Chanel: Mademoiselle Privé
When it was revealed that Chanel would be collaborating with Saatchi Gallery to create an unforgettable trip through the work and life of Chanel, it came as no surprise that it was number one on everyones to-do list.
From the 13th October through to the 1st November, Saatchi Gallery, London opened its arms to the luxury fashion brand Chanel. The exterior of the gallery became tranasformed into Chanel's garden where visitors were given the pleasure to walk through a garden trail before entering the secret life of Chanel held within the gallery itself. Sunshine or rain, the staff were on hand supplying umbrellas and Mademoiselle Privé flyers to Chanel fanatics as they waited in line. The free admission meant anyone was welcome to spare some time to become immersed into the brand, fashionista or not. Prior to entering visitors where recommended to download the Mademoiselle Privé app, created especially to function alongside the exhibition. Using bluetooth and GPS, the app enabled visitors to get up close and personal with the life of Gabrielle Chanel as each room became transformed into a digital reality through some way or another.
The first room which members of the public could enter was a bright, welcoming, mirrored room. Instructed to begin to use their app, visitors soon noticed a change in scenery and the app displayed a rather homely looking room instead, the room in fact being Chanel's Rue Cambon apartment.

Visitors were then transported to Chanel's hat boutique which featured a select range of white hats and hat boxes.

With the aid of the app, visitors could scan certain photographs to learn the story behind the image.

The app created a virtual reality with Visitors constantly scanning items to see them come to life, including this door which swung open to reveal Chanel looking at fabrics.

Elegance is being equally beautiful inside and outside - Gabrielle Chanel

Overall, the Chanel Mademoiselle Privé exhibition was quite simply enchanting. From the garden trail outside to walking through a sea of Chanel fabrics draped from the ceiling. Mademoiselle Privé enlightened visitors into the life and creation behind Chanel. From Coco to Karl, the exhibition travelled through the brands heritage and products, from clothing, to perfume and to jewellery. The exhibition didn't leave visitors empty handed either! Visitors received a tote bag with Mademoiselle Privé written on it including the sketch of the exhibitions illustration along with a poster advertising the exhibition. The exhibition also provides visitors with the chance to take part in various workshops put on throughout the day at a charge. Despite draining my phone battery to almost 1%, the exhibition was well worth a visit and I left feeling like I had taken a part of Chanel with me.
